Our practice consists of three main areas.
The first is matrimonial and family
law. This area includes such matters as divorce, legal separation, custody, prenuptial
and postnuptial agreements, adoptions and child support. Over the years, the firm has handled every kind of matter from
the uncontested to the contested, from the simple to the complex. For the past several years, we have also
services to assist couples in obtaining either a divorce or legal separation. During the mediation process,
we do not represent either party but rather, we encourage the parties to work with each other towards a resolution
of their marital situation that is legal and equitable. The hope and expectation is that after the process
is concluded, the couple will be able to maintain a positive relationship. This firm has always believed that
how a couple treats each other as they progress towards either a legal separation or divorce will affect their relationship far
into the future and will affect them as a family unit. Therefore, the firm's goal is, through neutral mediation, to
preserve the relationship between the parties which will in turn ultimately preserve and protect the family unit.
The firm also has considerable experience and expertise in the area of land-use law. Services in this
area range from commercial, residential and vacant land real estate closings, to all aspects of subdivision and zoning
applications including Article 78 proceedings, to municipal land acquisitions in which we have worked closely with the
towns and Suffolk County with the goal of purchasing either development rights to property or purchasing the land
itself for preservation.
Finally, our firm offers services in estate
and probate matters. Included in this area is the preparation of last wills and testaments,
the probate and administration of estates, preparation of certain revocable and irrevocable trusts, and preparation of advanced
directives such as powers of attorney, health care proxies, living wills and living trusts.
